The Magnetic Theatre gives original works and the people who make them a home to share with enthusiastic audiences. We are proud to be the only theatre in the southeast that presents all original works, and the first professional theatre in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC.
We are committed to new work, from conception to production, and we are also committed to our locally based artistic associates. Our promise to them is unique: we will do their work—not offer them a long, drawn-out process of development (unless that’s what they want) but give them the stage without constraint to do what they do best.
We have writers, directors, actors, improvisers, a choreographer, and a composer/musician on that team, but we also have a growing company of performers, designers, technicians, and volunteer staff to make it all happen. Our monthly Magnetic Midnight features some of our best and opens the door to others who might become future featured artists and collaborators. We are always interested to meet and work with new people, so please do come introduce yourself to us!
The Magnetic Theatre in The Magnetic Field presents theatre, music, comedy, and spoken word evenings throughout the week (and, whenever possible, dance). What you’ll see here can’t be seen anywhere else. More often than not, you’ll see it first.
